Scarlett Johansson, American actress (born on the 22nd of November 1985 New York City New York) has received acclaim for her ability to act across different genres ranging from period dramas to thrillers to action adventures. Johansson is the daughter of a film producer and architect. She was raised by New York City. She and her twin brother Hunter were the youngest siblings of four. From a young age she began to develop a passion for performing and started auditioning commercials at the age seven. Her interest in acting grew rapidly and she immediately in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. Johansson made her debut an actress on film in North (1994) at the age of nine. When she was eight years old, she starred alongside Ethan Hawke on Off-Broadway in Sophistry. Johansson was next seen in Just Cause (1996), but the film Manny & Lo 1996 that gave her her breakthrough. The film is about two girls orphaned by their parents who have fled to escape. The Horse Whisperer (2000), in which she played a teenager with a deformity because of an accident earned an acclaim from critics. In Ghost World 2001 (as the cynical teenage outcast Rebecca), Johansson gained even more recognition. Smith was in a television commercial for Dannon yogurt. Like many other actresses starting out, she decided to perfect her craft in the world of theatre. She was involved in various productions throughout the USA in the midst of making her stage debut. She was a student at an institution called the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory, part of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
